Adfinis responded to Dectris's need for a high-performance storage system and orchestration of the containers used by introducing Ceph and Kubernetes.
Dectris is a PSI spin-off company founded in 2006 that focuses on the development and manufacture of high-quality, high-performance X-ray and electron detectors.
In their daily work, the need for a modern and high-performance storage system became apparent, as did the need for orchestration of the containers used. In the future, part of their IT operations would also be outsourced so that Dectris could focus on further developing their services.
The extensive storage capacity requirements were met using software-defined storage. Ceph was chosen for this purpose, which was implemented with the help of Red Hat Ceph subscriptions. For container orchestration, the Kubernetes platform was chosen, which is operated with Advantage Support on Canonical.
Adfinis supported Dectris throughout the entire process, from advising on suitable solutions during the evaluation phase to installing and integrating the solutions into the existing infrastructure.
The collaboration went beyond the conversion process, however, as Adfinis supports the operation of the Kubernetes platform within the scope of its SLA, thus ensuring a flawless lifecycle. As a Red Hat Premium Partner and Canonical Partner, Adfinis always has the latest skills and certifications, ensuring competent support.
Kubernetes is a powerful container orchestration platform that automates deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. It provides the foundation for modern, cloud-native infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments.
Ceph is a highly scalable, Open Source storage platform that unifies object, block, and file storage into a single solution. Designed for performance and reliability, it supports cloud-native workloads and large-scale data infrastructure.
